Marina Weiner (she/her) imagines alternate lives for objects and places we see every day. Using drawing, ceramic sculpture, and installation, she actualizes these musings by making physical interventions in the built environment. A fire hydrant becomes a sundial, telling time based on the comings and goings of the nearby bus. An existing fragment of architectural pastiche is extended and folded back onto itself using pigment and paper. Found objects come into the gallery space where they form connections with one another and inhabit new roles.

Marina’s life and practice are driven by careful observation and a healthy investment in the absurd. She currently lives and works in Long Beach, California, and can be reached at marinadweiner (at) gmail dot com.
